MAD MEN aka the Bomb

Conceived as an entry in a war protest exhibition, MAD MEN is a six-foot-long, half-scale replica of the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Its surface is festooned with warring toy cowboys and Indians, gladiators, knights and GIs, bombers and other weapons of war.  The name derives from the Cold War term Mutually Assured Destruction.

DEAD MAN'S CURVE

Inspired by a similar event in Chicago called Cows on Parade in 1999,  Cartunes on Parade was spearheaded by the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit and the Windsor Endowment for the Arts in 2005.  More than 160 artists created automobile sculptures, each themed to a song or music, that were placed throughout Detroit and Windsor. Before being given the go-ahead to make their models, artists crated small versions called maquettes which were auctioned as a fundraiser.

DAN. D. LYON

My creation as part of the LionTown project formulated by the Children Charities Coalition and Birmingham (Mich) City Commissioners. Nearly 40  artists created sculptures from fiberglass models that were placed throughout downtown Birmingham from summer through fall 2007.
